Tacoma Playing Cards

What: 

In 2012 the inaugural deck of Tacoma Playing Cards was created as a art exhibit that you can hold in your hand.  It serves as a souvenir, artisan gift, and positive representation of Tacoma and Tacoma artists to the greater Puget Sound region. This poker-grade deck of cards showcases locations and legends throughout Tacoma that are iconic, representative, and weird and tell Tacoma's unique story.  These poker grade quality cards feature the backs, box and face ranks designed and hand-lettered by Chandler O'Leary, and 13 artists illustrating four Tacoma locations on four separate cards.  The cards were printed in Kentucky by The United States Playing Card Company which produces and distributes brands such as Bicycle, Bee and Hoyle. 

The second deck, the Red Deck, is in the works with new artists and new Tacoma locations, icons and stories.

Who: 

Tacoma Makes, LLC is the brainchild of Amy McBride and Maija McKnight.  This company seeks to create creative products by creative people and become a online gallery of unique, limited run and other local artisan made and inspired goods.
